Hi,
The value of ESR as provided by you is 40 that is not too high to be alarming. ESR is indicator of inflammation or any physical
stress in the body and may be raised in multiple conditions including the minor ones. So, until the ESR is high enough, say above 100, it doesn’t carry any diagnostic value as such. So, you should not be worried about this value.
• SGPT is also not very high. The higher value is generally 56 but again varies with lab to lab. Please co-relate with the reference range provided in the report. Even then, it is not high enough to reach to a diagnosis. Many medications like statins,
aspirin, and some sleep
aids are also known to cause minor increase. Advancing age is another factor for minor increase. There can be little chances of
fatty liver disease due to SGPT and
cholesterol abnormal findings for which you can do following lifestyle modifications while medications are not necessary at this stage:
• limiting or avoiding alcoholic beverages
• managing your cholesterol and reducing your intake of sugars and saturated fats
• losing weight
• controlling your blood sugar.
I would suggest you maintain a healthy lifestyle by a balanced diet, good sleep, exercise and refrain from alcohol/
smoking or any other noxious substance that may cause physical
injury to your bodily organs. Till now, nothing to worry. Please repeat the tests after 6 months to compare with these findings. Stay fit, stay healthy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Maninder,
